Tony: I struggled with my weight all my life. I've tried other programs and fads with only temporary results, if any at all. Having your doctor tell you that you are a pre-diabetic is quite a shock! The interview below: Interviewer: Last week, we shared three inspirational weight loss stories. But today, SOZA is back to show us the healthiest way to reduce the need for some medications or to come off those medications completely. I'm joined today by Dr. Joseph Gambale from the SOZA clinic, and also Lindsey Miller, who was pre-diabetic but is not anymore. Twenty nine years old, and pre-diabetic, that had to be really scary. Lindsey: Oh, it certainly was, yeah. And it was a wide awakening. It just happened to be, unfortunately, about the time when my grandmother passed away from the disease. So the timing couldn't be more perfect in regards to opening my eyes to changing my life and to having to find a place like Soza really help me, you know, create a path for a healthier year. Interviewer: So, Dr. Gambale, there are a lot of people who are diabetic or who are on blood pressure medication, how does the SOZA Clinic's program fit into helping those people lose weight because sometimes they really struggle? Dr. Gambale: Well, as our clients lose weight, they'll notice the blood sugars will start to drop. The blood pressure medications will also decrease. And we work alongside with family doctors. And, you know, they would re-adjust medications as needed because, with the weight loss, we see a reduction in blood sugars and blood pressure, you know, medications. Interviewer: So Lindsey, how difficult was it to be able to do this? I mean, can you give us a framework of what your day has looked like and whether you were hungry? Lindsey: It was actually much easier than I thought it would be. I never went hungry. It's small meals throughout the day. And it's delicious food. It's eating real foods. There's no, you know, pre-packaged meals or anything. And, you know, the great thing about the numbers for me specifically is I wasn't on medication, but I was pre-diabetic. So for me, at 29 to have the numbers be at...my triglycerides at 241. And then, you know, having to face that fear. How much weight did you actually lose? Lindsey: So I'm down 52 pounds and just over 40 inches of weight loss. Interviewer: Well, summer is coming in your direction and if you need to lose a few pounds before bathing suit season, this is the time to do it. Why don't you to take a look at Jackie? Jackie lost 63 pounds in four months. She went from a size 24 to a size 8. Question is, how did she do it? Jackie is here with us to tell us all about it. Along with Dr. Joseph Gambale of SOZA weight loss. Welcome to both of you. Dr. Gambale: Thank you. Interviewer: Jackie, what an amazing transformation. Jackie: Thank you. Interviewer: How do you feel, 26...or 63 pounds later? Jackie: I feel amazing. To say I feel 20 years younger is not an exaggeration. Interviewer: Do you find your energy level is much higher? Jackie: It's amazing. And I was telling them in the back room that I got on a bicycle yesterday with my five-year-old daughter. I haven't been on a bicycle and probably about 25 years and it was nerve-wracking, but it was an amazing experience and I did fine and it was exciting. Interviewer: So, Dr.Gambale, what was the program that Jackie followed? How did she do this? Dr. Gambale: Sure. well, the Soza plan is an all natural, medically supervised weight loss plan. The diet consists of fruits and vegetables along with proteins like beef and chicken. We use supplements which are all natural, which promote weight loss and aid in cravings. And we don't use diet pills or amphetamines, which are dangerous, we don't use prepackaged foods which contain preservatives and we don't use, you know, we don't test our patients through extensive testing, which is unnecessary and expensive. I can honestly say I wasn't hungry. And I had a great support system. The people in the office are wonderful. You're there every week to be weighed and measured and they're there when you need them. My family was wonderful. It was the easiest thing I ever did. Interviewer: But really how did you cope there when you know you're a big girl and you're used to eating a large volume of food and then all of a sudden you're down to a much smaller portion. So how do you manage that kind of psychologically? Jackie: It's scary at first, it really is. But the best part of this psychologically is you go in there and three pounds, three pounds every week. The scale never went down less than three pounds and that was just an amazing thing. How much more motivation do you need then? This is working. I can do anything for 60 days. I couldn't do anything for 90 days. Interviewer: So, Dr. Gambale, you're looking for some people than we can follow. Dr.Gambale: Yeah, we're having an open casting call. Pat Ciarrocchi: “So that Summer clock is ticking. If you promised yourself you would lose weight and get healthy by Summer, you still have time… Now take a look at this gentleman. This is Richard. Since this photograph was taken late last year, he has lost 56 pounds, reduced his blood pressure medication and he feels great! In fact, so great, that we invited him here to the studio and Richard is here with us… You did the Soza plan…It’s great to have you with us…how do you feel” Richard Hays: “I feel great! I feel like I lot 56 pounds!” Pat Ciarrocchi: “that is a great thing to celebrate don’t you think? Alright so tell us about the Soza plan and how did you put it into effect.” Richard Hays: “I got involved with the Soza plan with my cardiologist. He did a heart catheter and when I went in for a follow up, I was going the wrong way…I put weight on…I thought I was at the point of no return…I kind of started to give up…I checked out the Soza plan after he recommended it… I started with the plan, I started to drop weight…daily…” Pat Ciarrocchi: “So tell me about the food program…often people think, I just cannot do this…it is too complicated…” Richard Hays: “The food…you follow the plan…you only get out of it, what you put into it. Dinner, again four ounces of chicken, salsa, and fresh asparagus.” Pat Ciarrocchi: “You didn’t really have to exercise a lot?” Richard Hays: "No! I just started exercising 3 weeks ago. I started after losing 40 plus pounds since I started to feel more energetic. We purchased an elliptical and now I am starting to get on the elliptical and things are starting to happen. My counselor kind of believed in me, and I intend to reach my goal!"

Pat: ...about foods that you don't eat. It's also about what food you do eat. Rocco: Well, I think people nowadays just want a pure product, the pure food dish, and they don't want all those hidden ingredients that they don't know. They wanna be able to understand what they're eating now. Pat: Okay, and so, a clean diet makes a big difference? Rocco: Absolutely. Pat: All right. Well, now, look at these two ladies. Darlene: My health. I was scared. I was with a cane, and I was having heart problems, and I needed to do something. I still have a lot to do in my life. Pat: Sure. Let's just show the before and after. There you are. Was it difficult to get to this point where you are now? How many pounds lost? Darlene: One hundred and fifty four. Pat: Wow. Darlene: The first two weeks were the hardest. Learning how to live without things that I was used to eating. Giving up all white things and eating... I went in there and I said, "I wanna eat real food. If you can do this for me without anything else, this what I wanna do." Pat: Okay. And so, Marlene, we wanna see your before and after as well. Tell me about how much weight you've lost too because it's always the proof. Marlene: I've lost 35 pounds. Pat: In what period of time? Marlene: I did it within six months and it's been over a year that I've kept it off. Pat: Wow. Okay, so, and again, how difficult was it for you? Marlene: It was difficult. It's a total change of how you eat, and how you look at things, and it's something you need to do. Health-wise, for me, I came off of my blood pressure medicine and cholesterol medicine and have not taken it for a year and a half. So, it was very healthy. Pat: But that is just amazing. And did you find yourself turning to more organic type food, to more clean foods? Marlene: Absolutely. The preservatives and the sodiums are not good, and it makes a big difference on just how you feel internally. Pat: Okay, so in one word, the two of you, how do you feel? Marlene: Awesome. Dr. Wehbe, you have gone national now, the response is tremendous, what is your vision though, with this campaign? Dr. Wehbe: Well, Pat, thank you very much for having us back on the show again. I just want to start... When I became a physician a few years ago, I really went in to help people. I know it sounds a little cliche, but truly, deep down inside, I wanted to help people, instead of treating them but prevent things, and prevent diseases, as opposed to just treating them. So when two years ago, when I myself lost 50 pounds and I was a pre-diabetic at that time, it truly, truly changed my life and the way that I feel, and the way that I approach medicine in general. Pat: So you actually have been able to do that with three of your clients who are with us? Dr. Wehbe: Correct. Correct. Pat: We're going to begin with Kenise. Kenise lost 60 pounds. Colby: Sixty-three pounds and thirty four and a half inches. Pat: All right. Isn't that terrific. People really thought that you had gone through weight loss surgery? Colby: Yeah. When I posted the pictures on Facebook, people started commenting how great it was, I looked fantastic, and then somebody made a comment about, "Oh, I had the surgery, too." I was almost caught off guard because I definitely did not have surgery. I worked very hard with the Soza Clinic and they are just amazing. But my friends had made me a T-shirt that I could wear to show people that I did not have surgery. Pat: Oh, goodness. And so Cheryl now is our third client, and Cheryl has a remarkable story as well. This is her before picture, and so now, where are you? Cheryl: I'm down 60 pounds and 48 inches. Pat: So what can you do now that you weren't able to do before? Cheryl: You know, I can just go through life and not worry about whether I'm going to have energy, whether my body is going to get in the way of things that I wanna do. You know, I can run around with my nieces and take my dog for a run and it's easy now. Pat: All right, beautiful. So this must make you feel terrific? Cheryl: The difference with the Soza program is that it's simple, really. I mean, if you think about it, all you're doing is eating real food. You shop in the produce section. You shop in the meat section. You buy fresh vegetables and fruit. You buy meat and then you make dinner with that. It's not something you pop out of the freezer and stick in the microwave. It's real food. It's what food was always meant to be. So, the Soza program has had a big impact on my life. Losing weight is not always just about losing weight. It's about learning to appreciate yourself, and going from getting up in the morning and not liking who you see in the mirror and what you see in the mirror, to being able to appreciate yourself and understand how your body works and how to keep it the way you want it to be. So, I have, in the past, tried a lot of different weight loss programs, trying to get to where I am now. I've done programs that had prepackaged foods. I was a part of them. And all of them had a small degree of success, but none of them were programs that I could stick with for the long term. And none of them got me anywhere close to where I am today. Peter: Cheryl said to me right before she was doing the Soza program, she looked at our wedding picture and she said she wasn't happy with the way she looked in the wedding picture. She said, "You only get those shots one time in your life." And then after doing the Soza program, she picked up her wedding picture and she said, "If only," when she looked at the wedding picture, and the way that she looks. If only she looked this good on her wedding day. And that sticks with me and I tell that to everybody that's preparing for a wedding. Like, "if only." "If only" could be today.
