Ingredients

  • 3 medium vine-ripened tomatoes, finely chopped

  • 1/2 red onion, diced

  • 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and finely chopped

  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Optional: diced avocado


Directions

  1. In a bowl, combine the finely chopped tomatoes, diced red onion, and finely chopped jalapeño pepper.

  2. Add the fresh cilantro to the bowl.

  3. Squeeze fresh lime juice over the mixture.

  4. Sprinkle ground cumin, garlic powder, paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper over the ingredients.

  5. If desired, add diced avocado to the mixture.

  6. Gently toss all the ingredients together until well combined.

  7. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed, adding more salt, pepper, or lime juice if desired.

  8. Let the Pico de Gallo sit for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
