Ingredients

  • 8 ounces of ground chicken

  • 1/4 cup white onion, diced

  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

  • 1/2 jalapeño pepper, seeded and finely chopped

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 small egg

  • 1/2 tablespoon olive oil

  • 2 large lettuce leaves (for serving)

Directions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, diced white onion, chopped cilantro, minced garlic, finely chopped jalapeño pepper, ground cumin, smoked paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

  2. Break the egg into the bowl and mix all the ingredients until well combined. Ensure that the mixture is evenly distributed.

  3. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.

  4. Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.

  5. Place the chicken patties in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until the patties are cooked through and reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

  6. While the patties are cooking, prepare the lettuce leaves by rinsing them and patting them dry with a paper towel.

  7. Once the patties are cooked, remove them from the skillet and set aside to cool slightly.

  8. Take two large lettuce leaves and use them as a bun to hold the chicken patties. Place one patty on one lettuce leaf, and then top it with the other lettuce leaf.

  9. Serve the Jalapeno Chicken Burger immediately and enjoy!
