A recipe that combines lean, protein-rich bison with aromatic herbs for a tantalizing meal.
Serve these bison burgers hot, straight from the pan, wrapped in fresh lettuce leaves for a low-carb alternative to traditional buns. To elevate the meal, consider serving with a side of roasted vegetables or a fresh salad. Feel free to add your favorite sugar-free sauces and fresh toppings like sliced avocado, tomato, and onion for extra flavor.
1/2 pound ground bison
1/4 small onion, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 lettuce leaves (for wrapping the burger)
Optional toppings: sliced tomato, sliced onion, sliced avocado, mustard, sugar-free ketchup
In a bowl, combine the ground bison, chopped onion, minced garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
Shape the mixture into two burger patties.
Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the burger patties and cook until browned and cooked to your preferred doneness, about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare.
Serve each bison burger wrapped in a lettuce leaf and topped with your choice of sliced tomato, sliced onion, sliced avocado, mustard, and sugar-free ketchup.
